HISTORY OF CNNAS

Camarines Norte National Agricultural School was established in Sitio Malabtug, Barangay Tulay na Lupa in the town of Labo in the year 1961, started as an agricultural vocational high school. The school was designed to cater students from different barangays of Labo and towns of Camarines Norte. It was a humble beginning for a farm school considering the location of the school was far from the main road and students from the rural areas of Camarines Norte whose parents engage in farming can enroll their child without tuition fee.

The objectives of the school are the following:

  1. To train the students to be the future farmers and make the land of Camarines Norte more productive by raising crops and animals for economic prosperity.
  1. The school would raise future citizens to excel in vocational courses.

In 1963, the school transferred to another site which is located near the Manila Bicol South road in Barrio Talubatib, a place near to the intersection of roads going to Panganiban and Paracale, Manila and going to Daet the capital of Camarines Norte. The school saw its first graduates in 1964.

In 2002, the government through Republic Act No. 7352 in consonance with Republic Act No. 8292 otherwise known as “The Higher Education Modernization Act of 1997” signed into law by President Fidel Ramos. The school was transformed to Camarines Norte State College, converting the school as laboratory high school of the college, where the main campus  is located in Daet, the capital of Camarines Norte. The school offered bacalaureate courses namely, Agriculture, Agricultural Education, Technology Education and Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, Agricultural Engineering and Environmental Management.

In the 50th year of CNNAS alumni after its conversion to the college, CNNAS high school graduates landed to different professions. Hundreds of them now are farmers, educators, government managers, seamen, office workers, veterinarians and engineers. CNNAS despite an agricultural school able to produced a medical doctor and a lawyer. To date, many of them are now working in Europe, United States of America, The Middle East, Asia Pacific region and Canada.
